WIZARDSADVANCE

Beginner's guide

How to play

  1. 01

    Pick a difficulty

Choose Easy, Normal, Hard or Nightmare. Easy gives double regeneration and a free extra bolt; Hard makes enemies match your level; Nightmare is Hard with no refill on level-up.

  2. 02

    Watch your three bars

Your wizard runs on Health, Energy and Stamina. The staff bolt costs 3 Energy, so keep an eye on it in long fights.

  3. 03

    Fight with your staff bolt

Your basic attack is a staff bolt that ricochets off stone. It gets stronger, faster and longer-ranged with every character level, and gains more bounces as you grow.

  4. 04

    Spend spell points

You earn one spell point per character level after the first. Spend a point to learn a spell, or stack points on a known spell to level it faster, up to spell level 20. Blink is free and always known.

  5. 05

    Set up your quick-slot bar

Only 5 spells can be ready at once, with Blink always in slot 1. Drag known spells from the Spell Library or Spellbook onto the bar to swap them.

  6. 06

    Gather and craft

Collect materials from enemies and chests, then craft potions and gem staffs at the Dwarf's Workbench: Sapphire becomes the Wind Staff, Ruby the Fire Staff, Diamond the Knockback Staff. Trade with the Dwarf Merchant.

  7. 07

    Explore the world

Leave Wizards Dale for the Forest, the Bears Warrens, the Castle, the dark tunnels and crypts and a haunted pond.

  8. 08

    Defeat the Elder Dragon

At the end of the road lies the Sleeping Dragon's Lair and the level 35 Elder Dragon, the final boss.
